The ambassadors of Yborean architecture are the mutual aid clubs: the Centro Asturiano, Centro Espanol, the Italian Club and the Cuban Club. Like the Kress buildings tree, many of Ybors roots are in its buildings. Dense vines make a roof over the back court, where there are freshly raked dirt floors and a ripening, bowling ball-sized calabash gourd hangs overhead. There are folk-style paintings of black heroes: Marcus Garvey and Bob Marley. The walls are covered with Jamaican memorabilia including vintage Bob and Ziggy Marley 45s hanging on a nail in the back.
Original and in operation for more than a decade, Cephas is curiously absent from Ybors historic map. Cephas Jamaican Hot House is a few blocks removed from the Ybor strip.
